The
organising committee for the 2010 World Championships has received
information that some competitors in Europe have had tether cars
removed from luggage that as been checked onto commercial aircraft.
The cars had been removed for ‘safety reasons’ as apparently it is
not allowed to carry combustion engines on an aeroplane.
Although
the tether cars have been made available for collection several weeks
later via a customs office, this obviously presents some problems if a
competitor in the world championships is arriving soon before the
event, as his cars may not be with him when the event begins.
If
you are attending the 2010 world championships in Sydney and wish to
freight your car/s (either by sea or air via Fedex, DHL, etc) the
organising committee is happy to accept delivery of any cars prior to
the event to ensure they arrive in time for the race meeting.

you wish to pursue this option, please e-mail me and I will forward an
address to where they can be sent. I

In Sweden we will try a new class
within the 5 cc. class this year 2010 - the OPS class. We are trying
to attract new play-mates to our hobby and have found that in this
country our best bets are middle-aged boys that played with models,
motorcycles in their youth and now again have more time for a nice
hobby. So we have to find a second hand car for them. 1.5 cc and 2.5
cc cars are out, because no-one in Sweden can horse them in any more.
The 3.5 cc "beginners" class does not attract them, it is
not fast enough and has not so much status - to them. The 10 cc class
is a bit scary and expensive - so the 5 cc class remains and that
might be ideal for our eventual new recruits.Nils Björk
